William Hague made a small but very important point which all these stupid, ill-informed anti war protestors should take note of:
Saddam Hussain told weapons inspectors he had no Scud missiles.
Saddam Hussain today fired Scud missiles at Allied forces.
Still, given more time I'm sure he would have owned up

We need a Scoobynetter on Q time! The media is full of 'right on' myopics...it does not seem to proportionately reflect the opinions of people I know...
Shirley Williams has a harder job than many other politicians (not in govt in living memory etc...) however she came across to me as more measured, genuine, wise and intelligent than the others - especially that full of himself contradictory idiot Morgan. Would probably punch him over dinner!

The media slant on things in this country is what directs public opinion. The same in every country - watch amercian TV then you will understand why they think like they do - Media is more powerful than Governments these days. Its just a fact of life than a large part of the population are so gullable.

Paulr - you underestimate the huge power and reach of propoganda mate. Imams preach total propoganda worldwide, and the propoganda spin on the Yanks' friendly fire issue is to not even mention it here in the US. That's probably a favour to the government by the news industry, but still a form of propoganda. Propoganda affects all our perceptions and conclusions IMHO.

Dont agree Diesel.People read the newspapers and watch tv,but they aint stupid or as gullible as you make out.The opinion of newspapers has only a small amount of influence if you ask me.

If the images and views pushed on TV and in newspapers affect public opinion so little, how come this war is being fought by use of the media by both sides as much as they can ?
Tony Blair is in power because of the TV image portrayed. It's all about the media now.

Tony Blair is in power because of the TV image portrayed. It's all about the media now.
1.The Tories were in power for 12 years.
2.People were bored of them
3.Labour had refomed.
4.Labour offered a viable alternative.
5.The electorate thought they deserved a chance.
These are all facts, none of this is media opinion and any image that was portrayed on tv had a basis in reality.
Imagine a scenario where the media had tried to deny all of the above facts and said the Tories deserved another 12 years, people would have laughed at them.
Like i said, people overestimate the power of newspapers.Dont forget loads of people never read them.

paulr I am far from Gullable Mate! It was merely my opinion and im sure I said media not newspapers - how do you get your news? I take it that it wont be the media, you must cover every story yourself to get to the unbiased truth!! LOL
PS: You don't watch Iraqi TV by any chance for your news?
