Is there such a thing as a reputable timeshare company?

Quite fancy one up North, but the usual stories around high pressure sales tactics and horrendous bills make me slightly concerned

Also, I've heard that timeshare resellers are the best way to buy - any one have any advice/personal experience of the whole timeshare lark?
