Having just picked up 3 points for 40mph in a 30 zone on a dual lane ring road locally from a friendly gatso which i knew was there in the first place I think it may be time to invest in some sort of warning system.
What is the best at the moment, preferably of the gps type and not a tescos detector like a snooper
Also, how do these work, how much do they cost, and can they be transferred if i change my car

If you want one that you can transfer between cars, get one with a built in aerial.
I can vouch for the Snooper SR-6 neo,its excellent and has a built in modem, which i prefer to a built in aerial, out of choice.

It will tell you the limit when it's warning you of an alert. You can set it to only warn if you are over the limit too.
You can set a max speed limit i.e. if you want to be notified when you reach 30mph by GPS, useful in dense camera areas.

Thanks for the replys, almost totally convinced myself to get the snooper now but just a few more questions hopefully some of you snooper SR6 neo owners can help me!
As far as i can work out, you get a small radar detector box, a control panel screen and an ariel. Roughly how big is the ariel and how/where does it fit - is it suction mounted etc? And how does the radar detector and control panel screen fit on, is it possible to mount all these to the front screen?
And finally how easy is it all to fit bearing in mind the extent of my car wiring experience is removing a pair of dead speakers and replacing them with new ones! Oh and where does the power supply come from?

Just hard wired mine into MY01 WRX, very easy, including radar / laser detector in lower air intake. Aerial on rear parcel shelf.
Will try to post some pictures to you.

dba, where does the units take the power supply from? Bearing in mind ive never done anything like this before! And how are those wires disguised, down the back of the dash near the windscreen?

I took a power supply from the fuse board behind the dash, very easy using a scotch lock connector, just make sure it is a switched live, and put an independant switch in as well. The wires tuck nicely behing the door seal.
