Ok, please don't laugh & take the Michael out of me for this.

But I was having a conversation with my mate about whether or not a Hovercraft would have to pay road tax?

He said it would, but I said "That doesn't make sense". Think about it, It hovers above the road, so it isn't really using the road (technicaly it isn't). He said it doesn't matter because it's following the road. I went on to say, If a helicopter flys 100ft above the road & follows it exactly, then would It have to pay road tax? I think not!

So can anyone answer this seemingly stupid question?

You muppet.

Are they road legal? If not, I wouldn't have thought you could pay tax on the basis it's not allowed on the road.

Yeah, but if it hovers above the road, would it really have to be road legal?

I mean, it doesn't really touch the road does it?

Who can see Crush cruising around Edinburgh in a hovercraft to save his £160 in road tax then?

I would seriously take a hovercraft to work every day if it saved me that much money Head on winds on the motorway could makes things interesting though

What's the going rate for a single seater hovercraft & how much to insure them?

Hovercrafts, or levitatecrafts () are the way forward

Want to go halfers on one Paul? You buy it, I'll drive it

I could have found out at lunchtime, seeing as I was near the post office. I wonder if they would know?

Wink

LOL, I would ask the DVLA themselves....if the PO near to you is anything like the PO that was near to me, then a brick wall would give a better answer.

Croosh - get back where you belong and quit the stoopid questions. If Mishter Brown discovered that 'copters were flying above roads I am quite sure a tax disc would become mandatory in about 30 seconds

Cool

Ok, I'll stop now, before I end up being responsible for every single thing in the UK needing road tax
