Human Rights and RAF Wittering

Page 3 of the Daily Mail today. Somebody is taking the MOD/RAF to court saying the noise from the Harrier's is a breach of the Human Rights act.....
If they carry on complaining, somebody should dust off a few old Lightnings and Vulcans..... then they would know what noisey was.
FFS.
Bet if there was an air show, they would be the first to open a car park and cash in.

Like moving under the flight path of Heathrow, Manchester or any airport and then complaining about the noise of the planes. (BTW I have and you tune it out after a while, to the point only Concorde would make me look up.)
The RAF base probably as there than most of the residents have been alive... if they didn't ask about it when they moved then they have no leg to stand on.

So if they win does that mean we can't have an Air Force anymore?
So that person woud be harming this country's ability to defend itself... um that could be classed as treason.

how stupid of us! of course. where there's blame, there's a claim.
if they owned livestock, they'd have a point. but they don't. the bases were there before they were.
so they can't use their land for running pheasant and grouse shoots. tough: use skeet. so they can't rent out their property and land as sets to film companies. tough. they should have considered that before purchasing. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that if you live on/near an airbase flight path, you will suffer noise pollution. RAF jets have been stationed at cottesmore and wittering for 50 years.
asking for £7m compensation from the MoD is taking the mickey: they should sue their lawyers for negligent conveyancing if they failed to conduct the searches properly.
as usual, common sense goes to hell thanks to ill-thought out legislation. but yeah, just milk the system ...

Luke, let me get this straight...
You are quite happy for someone that has bought a house for several million quid, that is in a Millitary Air Traffic Zone, to subsequently sue the tax payers (you and I) for £7 million simply because it is in a MATZ?
If I bought a house that is next to a main road, could I subsequently sue the government for road traffic noise reducing the value of my property?

I believe its mad... But my post was to bring to light the stupid things that the legal system is taking on these days.... they love it. The lawyers are making so much money.
The system needs to be changed..until then these people will try it.
But if it was me and it stood a very high chance >I would. Then i could leave Scoobynet and cause trouble on " 911 turbo.com "!!!!

I guess the house has been there longer than the airfield, although there is a subtle difference between a WWI bi-plane and a modern jet aircraft.
Looking at the aerial picture in the paper, I bet they used to land Spitfires on the lawn of the house and then have tea and buns on the veranda Wot wot old chap
Anyone know how Harrier's land (normally), since they must be still at 500-600ft on the approach at the point they fly over the house, and would be on a low throttle setting?

Generally the Harrier is different to most aircraft as it approaches to land, since it is aiming for a low touchdown speed or even 0 speed if it is going to do a hover landing. As the aircraft slows down in the latter stages of the approach it start to lose lift from the wings and to counter that the engine nozzles are turned more vertical and the power is increased to maintain sufficient lift. The power setting will be at its highest the slower the aircraft is travelling in the final stages of the approach. As it touches the ground the power will be reduced to idling. I should point out that the Harrier would be able to make a steeper approach so would generally be higher than conventional aircraft close to the airfield.
It looks as though as our society becomes more greedy people will try anything to get hold of more money, I bet that as soon as there was any sign of an attack on this country those people would be the first to be jumping up and down expecting the military to be laying down their lives to defend them regardless.

LOL, so they get more noise than normal
Did wonder if that would be the case. I've only ever seen them fly over the A1 once of twice, and they didn't appear to be going that fast.
They should thanks their lucky stars that they don't live at the end of the runway at Fairford.

So the live next to an RAF base and what, expected the jets to be quiet?
FFS people like that should be used for live fire exercises!
Now a Lightning of full afterburner take-off would upset them... and take out a few windows!
