Best place to find IT jobs?
#1
As many of us on here, I, along with my whole department was made redundant a few months ago. I have applied most of the usual IT agencies and job sites on the web, but to no avail. I have 4 years experience as a web designer and now Creative Director, yet cannot find work.
Can anyone else suggest any other effective channels or practices which may help me find a job?
Any ideas how long the current IT climate will continue, this is gtting ridiculous..
Any advice, tips, hints, help or suggestions much appreciated.
Cheers in advance,
MS

Thanks for all the replies so far guys. I am familiar with and use most of the job sites that have been mentioned so far. I was really looking for some alternative channels to find work, maybe a secret jobsite that only Scoobynetters know about?
The big job sites are great, but they are so well known that the number of applicants for any one job is just plain stupid.
Can anyone suggest an alternative line of work where my design/management skills may be of use?
Keep 'em comin'
Cheers,
MS

I have to say that I have only once been successfull in applying throught an advert or an agency.
Apparently 60% of all vacancies are never advertised. My advice is network like mad and do some research on companies that you would like to work for then approach a seniro person directly.
Good luck

Martin,
Try our very own Plantie - Neil Plant from Progressive in Reading, he should be able to help you/give you some direction.
If you're going to the Bracknell meet tonight I'd expect he'll be there, if not, try: n.plant@progressive.co.uk
Cheers,
Steve
BTW, That'll be a pint of bitter please Plantie!
