Traffic Cops are not above the law...

A speeding ticket was issued to the former head of a Police Traffic department. The ticket was withdrawn when he said he couldn't remember who was driving the car.
However, complaints from rank and file officers have forced the ticket withdrawal to be reviewed.
Good to see decency and fairness for a change...

Actually, I think he should have been let off and that all the who-ha has been counterproductive.
If he said, "Dunno who was driving m'lord" and got let off scott free then it would have set a legal precident for us normal bods to use.
In other words if he got off using that excuse we could too.

He claimed a redress available to us all. This has been completely misreported.
He didn't say he wouldn't tell, he simply asked for the photographic evidence to see if it was him or not.
Old Bill faced with the choice of processing another 100 60 quid cheques or faffing about finding photos will usually err in favour of banking the six grand. REGARDLESS of who the punter is. But it's a gamble. However, he would have known what the policy of the force was. Insider dealing then?
Just so happens that the fact he is a policeman brings this to public notice.
