Saw the new Roller today when I was in Chichester which is near Goodwood where they are made now I think. What an ugly son of a bitch. I thought it looked OK on the press release piccies but in the flesh it looked like a landing craft on wheels... Now I am not a Roller fan and but I did think the earlier models had some panache but not this new baby. Anyone seen the real thing or been in one? David

agreed the new one is a moose (thanks BMW)
Before the shadow they did produce some truly beautifully handcrafted motors.
I am biased because my old man has a silver cloud which he bought in the late 80s for a song.
it was cheap to buy but has probably cost more than twice what he paid to kep it running

An on topic reply at last My post was really about the car not the image/stereotype of the driver. I am sure the new Roller is engineered beautifully but I think its looks let it down IMHO. Agree with Matts that the older Rollers were the business but they had an off period in recent years. I remember sitting in a 70's/80's Model with cheap plastic indicator controls and it didn't even run to a heated de-mister on the rear screen (OK they are all supposed to be owned by peeps with garages!). Uncle had an old Bentley Contintental (long sloping back) - real peach.

cheers david the old mans is a cloud 1 the last of the real handmade rollers and features a handbook adressed to the "chauffeur" and an old fashioned valve radio which hums in a very satisfactory way for about 20 secs before it comes to life.
on a side note the seatbelts are actually RAF made
