The air-con in one of the computer rooms on my floor has packed up. It was 35 degrees in there and rising. We've had to open the door to cool the room down while we wait for the engineer. It's 30 degrees in the office now and rising. Time to go down the pub methinks...

Its actually against E.U employment law to make you stay in an office where the temp is above 29 degrees (as far as i remember)
My temp guage in the golf showed 35 at one point today!

Hmmmm. Not too sure mate. There is definitely a legal minimum limit, but I don't think there's an upper limit. I checked a couple of years ago when we used to have all the servers in our IT office with no air-con! Might have changed since tho...

I remember a few summer's ago - working on site at the weekend. One of the guys went to go in the computer room - the handle was so hot he couldn't touch it!! - We actually thought there was a fire in the room at first, but the air-con had failed. You couldn't breath at first. All the Dell servers fell over with warped drives, but the good old Cisco 7500 routers kept going. Inlet temp on the Cisco's was reading at 45 degrees!! They should have auto shutdown, but some reason they kept going - never had a problem with them since either.

Thanks to the air con failure I've got a sore head this morning. We just had to go for a gazzillion beers to cool down. Inevitably we all got the muchies and ended up in a curry house. I don't remember much after that until waking up on the sofa a 3.30 this morning. Really needed the cat stomping on my head at 5.50 asking for her breakfast as well

According to Health & Safety guidlines - the maximum temperature in an office environment is 30oC. It is up to your employer to create a comfortable working environment (recommended temp - between 15 &23oC)...
(36oC in our office yesterday!)

As far as I know, there isnt a maximum legal limit.. only a minimum.
I did a stint in the Sahara desert a few years back... now that was hot!!
Try wearing a hard hat.. jeans and work boots... you always carried a bottle of water with you... cos you'd de-hydrate too quick otherwise..
you didnt sweat... it evapourated straight away.. and left salt on your skin.
I have also been to one of the coldest places too.. -46 degrees C ... NWT in Canada
Your nose and eyelids freeze up... if you went on a snowmobile.. with wind chill it could be down to -90!!!!
