Just to say thank you for organising the gliding experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back again sometime this summer for sure.

I only wish I went to the pub to get to know everyone, but my friend's girlfriend flew in from Australia today (she moved out there last summer) and he hasn't seen her since she left, so he obviously wanted to see her.

Thanks again.

Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Really glad you and Nicholas enjoyed it. Your membership is for three months so anytime you want to go back during that time you can fly at club rates. If you're interested in continuing you may want to get a log book so you can record your flights and progress. They are about £2 I think.. Give me a call if you want to know anything.

I would like to thank eveyone who went. I know most people travelled a long way to get there and hope you all got home safely. I appreciate the time (and cost) it takes to travel that far. Hope you feel it was worth it, and may be see you at the club again sometime...?

It was great to meet everyone and I'm glad you all had a good time. The look on Bens face when he landed on the first flight showed how much he enjoyed it! Priceless..

Cheers all..

I'll echo this: the evening was brilliant, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My wife was really chuffed that we persuaded her to go up: she's only flown twice, and is still extremely nervous of take-offs and landings. In a 7-10 minute flight, that's all there is

I really enjoyed it, even the display of emergency procedures by our host , and it was great to put faces and real names to more Scoobynet characters.

Tempted to take this up as a hobby - it was that good

Got home just before Midnight. An excellent day!

I think that Ben's mum's face during his "rapid" landing should have been captured.

I've taken some photos, and they'll be up later tonight.

Nick.

Actually I didn't realise that you were scoobychick!! Had my mind on making sure everyone was OK I think..

Glad you had a good day.

Photographs! I still have nail marks in my forearm, probably complemented by a perforated eardrum courtesy of Jan.

I think Bens expression is testament the success of the evening. But having almost persuaded Shirley to try it next time your aerobatic display set me back to square one

What more can I add? Complements to the instructors and in the immortal words of Arnie "I'll be back".

Andy is considering organising a group from the station, so with luck there's a few more quid to swell the coffers.

The whole evening went very well and from my perspective was complemented by the meal and good company at the pub. Thanks to all, especially those who despite having to travel home, added to my enjoyment.

Cheers
B
PS even the possibility of a NIP courtesy of the Safety Van didn't manage to spoil my weekend and we hit triple zero on the way home beneath the pedestrian bridge at Keel Services
I just hope it doesn't indicate I be walking too!

By the way, this may have been a costly get-together for me, too.

Not on points though.

My car sounds very effeminate compared to a full Scoobysport exhaust. Chris has the full system, I have the backbox only... Chris' seemed to howl and whoosh brilliantly. I used to think the backbox was enough...

The Wife is yet to be convinced.

Yes, I was hoping that sitting your wife next to mine might have transmitted the speed bug, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

On the way back to the M1, dropped into 3rd and blasted past a golf that was doing around 45-50. It's times like that which remind you how nippy the "standard" impreza is.

Doesn't stop me from wanting more though

LOL. You should have seen it from my perspective . I was a bit miffed by that actually. I wanted to do a good flight. But You have got to think of safety first and I reacted as I had been taught and the reflex took over (wrongly has it turned out ).

If there's interest for another group evening flight I could arrange that. I'll put another post up and see if there's any takers...

If anyone is interested in doing this as a sport the British Gliding Association web site has a UK Club list. You can find the closest to you. Take a look at

It was great fun watching and next time I might just try it myself (or not ) All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening with good food and great company, it was nice to put some more faces to names.

Thanks Nimbus

BTW for any muppets reading this...Chiark really does smell

That was purely the natural consequence of Nimbus's emergency procedure display.

Yeah, great pics.

Notice, though, that you didn't get a pic of my mate's Nova?! Why not??

Cheers,

Shame I remembered to forget the camera when we set off for the day.

Couple of nice pics there. Particularly like the panoramic spot the glider one with the love of my life in the foreground.

Could you crop it to get that woman out of shot?
