Question

Just recently my monitor seems to have started fading the colours at the side of the screen. I thought it was my speakers so I moved them and it was cured.

It has started happening again, and now has developed a large circle with the inside looking.....burnt. I.e. on the monitor there is about a 7" circle which looks darker than the rest of the screen and can only be decribed as burnt.

Any ideas anyone? Monitor is about 18 months old but I have no receipt.

What does Degauss do?

Degauss makes your monitor go CLANGGG!!

The Bigger the monitor the bigger the CLANGGG!

Those 21" babies really go......

Sorry couldn't resist......

All right then - Degauss actually demagnetises the cathrode ray tube....there is a field wire wrapped around the tube, degauss puts a current through it which upsets the magnetic field and the magnetic field breaks away and disspipates this stops the residual magnetism in the tube distorting the rays from the CRT guns and causing a bent picture or poor colours - or somefink like this...basically it MAY fix your problem but I wouldn't like to bet on it...it sounds pretty fooked to me!
