Ibiza GTi 16v Vs. Puma 1.7
#1
I am thinking about which car to buy as a daily run-about.
I like both the Ibiza and the Puma. I have been in the puma a couple of times and I like the ride, but just also interested in the ibiza because its basically a Golf GTi.
Thanks Dan

I'd go for the Ibiza 20v Turbo. I was speaking to someone yesterday who has one on order. It's costing him around 14k new (with 155bhp) but, for about another 2k he's having the ECU done and an Audi TT 225 turbo fitted - then reckons on around 240bhp. Could be fun in the wet though ....

I had an Ibiza gti 16v cupra sport, revolting kiwi yellow.I wouldn`t buy another SEAT again as long as i live, build quality is attrocious, too slow, and eats front tyres in 3000 miles if you don`t swap front to rear at the right time, dealer said that was normal.
Good things about it,the handling, at the expense of the increased tyre wear.
can`t comment on the puma, some fit women drive em though.

The Puma 1.7 is a much better handling car, it does 40 to the gallon. The performance is similar although the Puma will have the Ibiza point to point every day of the week.
IMHO
You won't get a Puma 1.7 for £ 6K - entry level is 7K min.
Should get a Seat for thgat sort of money - they depreciate like it is going out of fashion.
My other half has a Puma 1.7 and it is a cracking drive - i am 6' and 16 stone and i fit in it apart from catching my head on the door orifice!
Only drawback is the raked windscreen - just needs getting used too.
Puma not Ibiza

Hi,
I have a SEAT LEON Cupra.
Brilliant build quality, 180Bhp 6 speed box etc etc. Car goes well and is nice to look at. £14.5K on the road.
Excellent machine. Chassis based on the Golf.... Ibiza is based on the Polo!
Plus it has a TOP cd stereo.
Puma is too small but admittedly rather good.

I had a Puma before the Impreza and I miss it, this was the most fun I ever had in a car with my clothes on, the only reason I sold it was I needed a bigger car and it too has a cult following like the Impreza with no Max power boys being welcome.

If it's a hot hatch you're after there's a really nice Almera GTi in the for sale section, 140 bhp and outhandles most cars in it's class bar a GTi-6, plus it's VERY reliable.

Danny - I had a T reg 1.7 Puma as a company car and I loved it, it was an amazing little go kart, plenty of room in it for the shopping, not to sure about golf clubs or baby buggies but for normal use it is awsome.

sorry my fingers don't work anymore due to 1 x bottle wine and 1 x German keyboard.
