Hi All

I've been running Norton Anti-Virus for a while now and have never been completely happy that it's working properly. Might be something to do with win2000.

Is there a REALLY good one that will definitely fully support Win2K?

Or, is there something you need to do to get Norton working properly with win2000?

Don't use Norton, never have, never will. Follows an event a few years ago when the AV should have caught a virus, but didn't.

Simon - We currently run McAfee with no problems, call Outlook and ask for Rich - he can fill you in.

I use Norton Anti Virus on my W2K system and have not had any problems to date.

I did used to use Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit and that was fine until they were taken over (was it by MacAfee?) and they stopped sending me updates. Their customer service is an absolute joke. All calls are routed to some European call centre. It was a truly painful exercise that I gave up on, in the end.

I will NEVER do business with such a company again.

CA InnoculateIT is good if you are protecting several boxes as the autodownload and update of signature files works really well.

We also use Sophos (belt and braces) and it's a good product but you have to keep on top of the updates yourself.

Norton... Pants.

have used the full Norton system works for a while with no probs-excellent prog for the home user to keep the PC clean imo.
With antivirus you have to update at Symantecs site regularly.
Best bit the rescue zip disk-had only 2 windows crashes on this Pc and the rescue disk went in first time!!

We use McAfee VirusScan 4.5 on all our Windows 20000 Pro PCs at work.

Seems to do the job, but then being an IT company we don't get many internal viruses - only usually see stuff coming in on e-mail which our multi-layer setup gives a good slapping too.

Simon, the older Norton versions had problems on Win2k.

I run Norton AV 2001 on several machines and the PC supplier I'm doing some work for have it as their AV software (on hundreds!).
