Just logged on for about 20 minutes - suddenly my monitor has started turning pink at the edges of the screen, and now it is getting duller in colour
What the hell is appening to it

Could be a couple of things...
1) Your monitor is about to die
2) The cable is stuffed. Is it captive at the monitor end (non-detachable)? If so, try a different cable. My monitor kept going purple and I thought the monitor was on it's last legs. £15 on a new high quality cable and all was fine again.
3) Your video card has come unseated slightly.
Chris.

ChrisB, thanks for the quick response. I have sorted it now thankfully.
You missed off option 4) Speakers.
I had considered this but the speakers have been sat next to the monitor with no probs for 18 months. I have moved them and it seems to have done the job.
Thanks
Simon

Simon,
ya beat me too it, 'cos i was going to suggest speakers. I bought some so-called "shielded speakers" a while ago that did similar things to my monitor. The crazy thing was that the shop said that my _monitor_ was at fault - not the speakers. Hey, Earth calling magnets!!!
You may want to double check your speakers, because as well as monitors, bad ones could affect floppy disks, flash-media cards, MRM brain-scan machines etc This is as well as the fact that they can _permanently_ damage monitors - so be careful!
