Looks like I'm going to Oz via Singapore.

I've heard Singapore airport is a good place to pick up a decent watch.

Can anyone recommend a decent analogue watch that has an alarm and stopwatch, as my current Seiko does.

I don't believe any Brietlings offer such functionality.

cheers,

Greg

The Breitling Aerospace does.

My sister bought me mine in Singapore for just over £500 a year and a half ago (from an official Breitling shop).

Singapore Airport offer a pricematch service with shops in Singapore - so do your research beforehand and get the best price. Also you will get some tax back for taking it out of the country (even with their really low prices you get some tax back).

Or you can arrange to arrive in Singapore in the morning and fly out in the evening. Nice place to do some shopping for the day.

Cheers,

So any suggestions on how to check prices out from the UK in Singapore so the airport can price match?

What I did was:

1. Decided which watch I wanted.

2. Went to the website (Breitling in my case) and looked up all official dealers in Singapore.

3. Rang them and got prices from them, and also checked stock availability.

4. My sister just went to the dealer and bought the sucker.

Most watches come with an international warranty so there are no dangres as long as you get it from an official dealer.

In fact I popped into a dealer in the UK when I got it and got them to adjust the links for me.

Not offhand I'm afraid.

Your best bet is to find a decent watch shop and have a look at them in the flesh (so to speak). Decent shops will also have catalogues of different models.

Then you'll know exactly what you're getting.

A decent watch shop in England I mean....

I wandered into London and browsed around the Selfridges hall of watches - but any large shop will do.

AWD,

Did your sister have an overnight stop in Singapore, or just nipped out of the airport?

cheers,

Greg

She was in Singapore for a few days, as she went on a cruise that started there.

If you arrange it so that your incoming flight arrives in the morning and your outgoing one leaves in the evening, the Singapore authorities will give you a temporary visa for a day's shopping and sightseeing.

cheers AWD,

I'd take this to email, but don't have your email!

My flight only stops for 2 hours I think, do you know wether I am allowed out of the airport or not?

thanks,

Greg
