Cheap 2nd car
#1
Any ideas for a cheap 2nd car around £4k-£6K?
I need to commute to various hospitals and I need a car that I can leave in car parks without too much worry and it needs to be cheaper to run than the scooby.
The scooby can then be kept for weekends
I was thinking about a high mileage BMW 320 but the servicing costs put me off and if I come home with a high mileage early impreza I'm dead!

A mate was offered 3K trade-in on his N reg Toyota Camry 3.0 V6 auto (about 95k miles) at the weekend against a R reg Audi A6. He decided not to bother.
I know the Toyota will be [quite] thirsty but my mate reckons it has been fantastically reliable.
Maybe worth thinking about one, if you can get hold of one, that is.

A Smart!!!
I'd quite like to live if I get a stone chip on the motorway
As for a 205 its tempting but French cars have a habit of disintegrating around you on their 3rd birthday.

My other half drives a Ford Ka and I love it. OK, it's a bit underpowered after the Scooby but it rides well and has excellent handling. A mini for the 90's. Cheap to insure (2/3), you get good mileage and not much goes wrong with them, according to all the used car guides (touches wood, lucky clover leaf, rabbits foot and crosses fingers ).

Skoda Felicia Diesel.
Faultless reliability and spot on dealers.
Same to drive as a Volkswagan Polo as it really is one. Not bad performance from 1.9 engine and light car.
Leave in any car park
60mpg, stupidly low insurance.
Year old examples in your price range with 2 years Manufacturers Warrenty left.
I run one as a second car and will have another when its time to swap. (or maybe a Fabia)
If they did a 300bhp 4X4 WRC replica Octavia I might even swap the Scoob.

Ultimate Q-Car Legacy-Turbo - fantastic vehicle - I'm still trying to persuade the missus to change her ageing Legacy 2.2 GX for a slightly newer Turbo (not as nice interior as GX though )
