Anybody bought one, if so any advice??

yeah I have a 1/10 kyosho peugeot 306 nitro and a 1/8 kyosho subaru impreza wrc nitro they can be a bit of a pain and I am swapping the nitro scoob for a high spec electric one because they are easier to use.

I have just got one off Santa, a Tamiya 1/8th Nitro car,its the dogs danglies,it is so quick,but i got the starter box with it so i dont end up with an arm like Arnie trying to pull start the thing.
They do take some time to learn the controls at high speeds but they are so much fun.
The fun is in changing the set up of the car to get it to drive and handle diferently.
My advice is get one.

check out www.hpiracing.com amazing race ready kits in electric and nitro excellent build adjustable suspension and even carbon fibre parts if you want them.

a web shop www.modelsport.co.uk sells them and others. I have a electric rally version and it beats the pants of the tamiyas ect and also has a intenal dust cover so you can razz it in the wet too.

the only advice I can give is: don't ram your RC sideways into a kerb that seperates 2 big car parks as it smashes the fuel tank
I did this on the car's 2nd run out after telling my 13 year old son to "take it easy as it's not a toy"

Bought a .18 nitro Tamiya Terra Crusher myself a little while ago, 1/8th scale monster trucks are fairely hard to break, though it's body shell looks a little worse for wear

p.s. anyone know anywhere that's the Traxxas T-MAXX's in stock? Can't fine one anywhere

i've got a schumacher ( nothing to do with the prat that dives for that italian team) nitro 10 with all the tuning bits added Bugeye WRC bodyshell on it bl**dy good fun, got it Formby Model Shop but also have been to Modelsport in Otley good shop very helpfull.

would recommend getting one

always wanted to take it to the nearest speed camera to see if it would go off . Q: who would get the ticket ??? maybe prodrive ? :P

Go for a Thunder Tiger TS-4N it's a really great kit, it's tough, the engine is easy to start/run/tune and there are loads of bodies you can get once you tire of the scooby!

I've got one that myself and my lads have been thrashing around for a couple of years and apart from new wheels/tyres and a couple of circlips etc that have fallen off it's only just begining to show it's age as the egine is now difficult to run from cold.

The best mod i can thihk of would be to source a r/c unit with the thumb controls swapped from one side to the other to mimic PS 2 (gt3...wrc.... cmc.r..) havn't tried it but it must dramatically increase intuitive control if you have played ps to any extent( these controllers are available.... ,but a proffesional model shop may be your best bet)

Before you buy new (£200+) check out e-bay, there are always loads for sale. You can pick up a decent 1/10th kit for around £100 and anything from £150 - £300 for a 1/8th depending on the spec.

There are a few dogs around so be careful and dont get carried away with the bidding, plenty turn up so you should have a good choice.

I got a couple of 1/10th nitro kyosho buggies, cheap with easy spares but they are a bit plasticky and bits do break frequently.

Also got a 1/8th Mugen buggy - this is a totally different class, everything is metal/alloy and extremely fast, strong and well made bit of kit. Expect to pay around £250 for an old one and £500+ for new.

When u get going it is very addictive hobby, with a fair share of maintanance needed to keep them running properly.

If you have the cash then you should go for the daddy of R/C cars which are the FG-Modellsport line of cars. They are huge cars (1:5th scale!) They have some insane top speed (They run a 23cc 2 stroke engine) and look awesome. God know's where you could one though. Scooby2000 said it would be funny to run an R/C car past a camera to see if it would trigger it, i think that one of these things probably would. But the cheapest ones are around £450 without the radio gear!

Heres my 1/5 th FG Merc C291. cost about £560 from modelsport, that included all radio gear ( heavy duty servos etc) and 6 tins of paint for the shell. I would wait a bit before going into 1/5th scale as they take a bit of driving, and when they get bent they can cost big money - the shell alone for the car below is £ 135!



To be honest, its not as much fun as my 1/10 scale shumacher fusion, 80mph out of the box. get one here http://www.apexmodels.co.uk/ £260 for the car, £65 for the radio and gas.
