Oh OK then James! If it is to be used on the road and offroad then go for an auto lube machine ie Honda CRM250 or the Suzuki equivalent (RMX I think?) but if only for off road then go for a premix bike like the RM250 (Suzuki) which is a real beast! Be prepared to budget for new pistons and rings very often as these are highly strung machines. 125's you will out grow but a 250 is a "man's" bike. It will be too much at 1st but you will get used to being scared sh1tless, and I do mean scared sh1tless! Trial bike magazine is a very good place to look for new and used (goes under the name TBM). For the money you are talking you will get a new or very new bike.

Hi buddy, for 3.5k you can get something new. Do you just want a bike or all the kit?! I would recommend buying something 2nd hand for 2.5k or so, in good nick thats tuned, then use the rest to buy the kit!

I would agree on 250 first, tough at first but essentially you'll grow out of a 125 quickly if you use it regularly.
I'd go for mainstream Honda or Suzy just for the ease of getting bits as it will break and you'll drop it often too
Also agree on getting the gear, boots, gloves and shoulder/chest armour(if nothing else you'll feel invulnerable, till your first spill). All these items can be second hand, get a new lid though. Lucky bugger !!!!!
