Which one are you on?

I have problems with loosing the IP address & have to reset the set top box occasionally longest I've managed to stay connected is about 2½ days

Guess you must still be on dial-up???

Go to NTHellWorld.com and tell them. Ask about the GAL whilst you're there

Super_si,

Mine used to do the same (Telewest broadband). I swapped from using the ethernet port to the USB port on the modem and it cleared up.

I also got the webcache servers cutting me off occasionally. I got the server address from them and put then into the LAN settings/Proxy server box in explorer setup and it's been fine since.

Im with Telewest (Blueyonder 1 meg connection) which as far as im aware is a sub division of NTL....it does go down every so often with no warning and as slow periods but other than that its been ok to a certain degree.

I know its no consellation but I think the service you get depends what franchise you are in. down here I have 600k broadband and have no problems, been on 24/7 now for months with no problems. We have had broadband since it was first introduced about 2 1/2 years ago in our franchise and have had a couple of 24hr outages and thats it.

Si,

I get signal strength problems with NTL depending on the weather and get exactly the same problem as you losing my connection for hours at a time. In the summer the signal goes too high and have to put an attenuator in place to cut the signal down. In the winter the signal drops too low with the attenuator and I have to remove it to get things to work. If you've got one fitted you could try removing it, or check your signal settings. Which cable modem have you got?

95% of my problems have either been at my end or solved at my end. Try looking here for some help http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...ips/index.html.

Si, I believe that there were problems with certain set top boxes, that meant you had to power them on and off to restore the bb connection. I'm pretty sure I read it on a thread on NTLHellWorld, so you might want to try a search there.

Si,

If you are seeing the second light on the box flashing then you are losing the return path to NTL.

You need an engineer out to check all your levels etc...
