Question

I am thinking of bringing my TV over from the UK to Italy but I have a feeling it won't work....not due to power but due to frequencies. Am I right or will it work?????

Help appreciated

Thanks

What you mean is that you will be able to receive the picture but not get the sound.

As your tv is from the uk it will a be PAL I.

For Italy you will need to get the sound converted, that shouldn't be much more then getting the sound crystal chaged to 5.5MHZ instead of 6MHZ.

By the way what tv is it as some have this built into the tuner and is more money then it is worth to do.

Voltage wise you will have no problem execpt for getting a plug adaptor to convert to 2 pin.

I think that only applies if your not using a SCART connection. Mine worked fine with Scart and German Sat System.

Thanks for the help...but not sure how i'd change the tuning crystal or whatever it is. The TV is a year old (A JVC 28" flat screen thingy). I am kinda hoping it won't need any tampering with...so if I get sky with a scart it'll work???

Think I'll phone JVC when I get back to the UK next week - don't suppose they'll know though!

Cheers

Many newer TVs are multi-standard. Get the exact Model number and do some googling for specs.

if you have a Sky digibox just take it with you and all you need to do is get a local guy to line up your dish. Just check you will be able to have your own dish as many appartment blocks have shared dishes and I'm sure they won't all want to see Sky TV . It will work OK as long as whatever you connect to only uses the SCART. The issue comes if you want to connect using the standard BNC type Coax connector tuner, to a standard antennae for example.
