Can anyone think of any reason why OE will not let me send image attachments (jpg/gif/bmp/art) yet it will let me send files of any other format?

I've tried everything I can think of. Is there summat up or is it just the fact that the thing is made by Microsoft?

Stuart,
Is this a home or work PC? Just if it is at work then there may be restrictions on the types of attachments, or even the size of the files.

It's my home laptop. The only limits I know of break the file up if its over a certain size (500K I think). Can't find any settings to stop it sending image files though

I am running a firewall (Norton), it couldn't be that could it?

Sorry Stuart, don't really know, but you could try switching off / disabling the firewall then try to send an appropriate attachment; at least then you will know for sure if it is the villain.

Question

Stuart,

have you tried ZIP-ping attachments? If something is blocking certain filetypes than maybe you can fool the filter?

What does your OE talk to? Does your ISP impose limits?

Tried zipping them..... it still doesn't work

It's connecting to the POP3 server at BT Internet, the whole e-mail is only 124K so its hardly going to cause them problems.

Does OE give any sort of error message or does the message just sit in the Outbox?

What version of OE is it?

Cheers,

Chris.

PS. Oy! Robertio, outside now with your handbag

It will connect with the server then stop downloading. Eventually it hits the POP3 timeout. I've tried changing that and leaving it for ages. Still doesn't do anything and I don't get any error messages (other than the timeout).

It's version 5.50.4133.2400.

I dont think its OE thats causing the problem, its probably BT Internet. During busy periods I get quite a few time-outs from their mail server when downloading large mails. Your best bet is to try sending late at night and see if it does it again.
