My daughter is thinking of an MP3 player in the sales - I have had a search on the net, 1 year ago there were LOADS about - NOW? next to NOTHING!!?? WHY?
Anyone recommend an MP3 player? I have found one with CF cards which seems a good idea as its expandable quite cheaply? It comes with 64Mb's too!

I've just bought the wife a standalone MP3 player, that's basically a radio/cassette and its excellent!
A Philips AZ1150£80 from Comet.

I have a Diamond Rio 500 which came with 64Mb. This couldn't hold a full CD (unless you compress) so I upgraded to 128Mb.
Still a pain reloading tracks when you want to change.
And it was quite pricey as there are no moving parts.
So I bought a cheap CD MP3 player from Maplin. Only £50 and you have a whole CD full of music (about 10 normal CDs). The data is loaded in advance so the CD only spins every minute or so.
I'd go for a CD MP3, cheaper and more tracks but not quite as small.

I have a 5gb Ipod, can fit about 1000 MP3s on it
At £260ish it aint cheap though, but the stylish design more than makes up for the price.

Ahh but Chris, if you can only run for 5 minutes then your player is fine but if you are a real man you will need 2000 tracks to last a run

The DMK MPIO (the small one) is very good IMHO. The nearest equivelant when I was shopping was a Sony at almost twice the price.
You get a USB cable included in the box. I keep this connected to my home PC. I opted for a second cable which I carry in my laptop bag so I can update my DMK whilst out and about with my laptop. Entirely optional.
A typical 4 meg MP3 will upload in 4 or 5 seconds.
Chris.

No prob Pete.
Just taken another photo to highlight the size of the thing:
Mine lives in my coat pocket. I use it three or four times a week at the gym. When I go to London for work, I use it on the train, the tube, when walking. It's something you can take with you all the time, not, "oh, I'll take my MP3 player today"
You might want to get a set of rechargable AAAs, although I've still not got round to it. Haven't timed how long a battery lasts to be honest. I got my current set of Energizer batteries from Woolworths on buy one, get one free (£5 for 16).
It's dead easy to install and using the software is a doddle. Just drag and drop the files from your PC onto it.
