ok have xp on my laptop, just bought a canon ixus 2, great camera, but the sizes of the pics in kb are huge, the camera instantly saves them in the my pictures part of the pc, at the mo if i click properties etc they are 115kb in size ( were 400 but played with camera) now i dont wanna reduce the camera any more as the pic quality will reduce and it takes cracking pics.

so how do i resize them? do they have to be resized 1 by 1 or can i resise a bundle in one go?

if you want to resize a collection and maybe create a gallery of thumbnails/images etc try Arles:

Then arles will be just the job, it creates resized images, and leaves the originals alone, and allows you to create custom galleries with thumbnails etc.

I use it for the pics on my website.

found one way, right click on the photo and click open with microsoft picture editer, and drop the size of pic down in inches etc, but the quality suffers quite a lot, can apear blocky if zoom in on it

you could also try Paint Shop Pro 6, this has an image resize feature which is perfect for downsizing images.

Using photoshop 6 - go to image>resize and resize the photo to whatever number of pixels you want. Then go to 'save as', remane it from 'car1' to 'car1 small' for example, and choose jpeg. You then get a 'quality slider' and slide it until the file size bit in the left hand corner is just under 100kb. Then save.
Hope that helps!

Change the resolution on your camera

Try setting to e-mail setting or something along those lines

Lightbulb

Change the resolution of the pics in photoshop and/or increase the compression...

Did you're camera come with a 'Lite' type application - that would probably do the above easily
