Thankfully I'm only on call - but I threatened everyone who may try this option. So I'm guaranteed peace and tranquility.
Your down pipe will be you prize for working such an important day. The day will come and go in no time anyway.

Im on call as well, however the land lines, internet connection and my mobile phone signal all have a tendancy to fail during pub opening hours!!!

No thank god! Worked it one year when I was with the Ambulance Service and it was horrible. Had to work New Years eve and New Years day as well. Never again.

xmas and boxing day.....12hours at triple time and i can guarantee i will be sat here all day watching TV and surfing the net (hope boss doesn't c this post!!!)

Yep i'm working as well , i'm on call to fix anyone that brakes down over xmas (mainly hgv's but anything at all) also my g/friend is working xmas day aswell so i think we'll forget xmas day as it will be a bit of a non event with us both working .
p.s this will be the second year running we have both worked, ****!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not me. I work shifts (4on 4off) and this is my 3rd year and Ive yet to work xmas or new years eve (touch wood). I do have to work til 8 new years eve but have 6 days off afterwards to recover so not all bad
