Boo! hiss! sh!tbags, got stopped for driving while talking on my mobile. producer, £30 fine, non endorsable tho
PC said, "Using a mobile phone while driving in now an offence".
I said, "Really? I thought you had to prove I was driving without due care, dangerously or whatever".
PC "Nah".
It was written on the ticket as code 307 I think, "Driving while not in proper control of vehicle". If it's now a separate offence, why not code xxx "Driving while on the phone?"
Before you all condemn me as a child squashing menace to society, I was not negotiating a roundabout sideways while eating a Macdonald's and sending a text message. This was in a diesel 309, 30 limit at 20mph, light traffic, wide straight bit of road, and my mum is speed dial number 2!

Anyone that can't drive one handed for a bit shouldn't have a license! Anyway I'm not looking for sympathy I just want to know is it a separate offence?
Merry Christmas Pete!

Not condoning the use of mobiles while driving, but why is using a phone any different to smoking in a car? I've never heard anybody being stopped for this.

"Erm cos they are chasing criminals or attending an emergency. Your mobile phone call doesnt quite have the same importance does it? "
They are driving with hardly any training..At much faster speeds than (Most!!) of us..Driving on the wrong side of the road etc.And this requires more attention than Normal driving. They are subject to the law as well!!Also why no hands free units in the cars??

Smoking and driving..... erm reminds me of that old classic....
Trucker driving down motorway middle lane when biker in fast lane rides up along side and bangs on truck driver's door. Trucker winds down window and biker shouts "thanks pal, can you give me a light?", half standing up with unlit *** in mouth. To which trucker duly obliges and shouts to biker "You're bloody crazy - you know you're gonna kill yourself one day" Biker replies "I doubt it mate, I only smoke two a week......"

What about punters eating or who are just **** drivers, sorry its all too specific for me, the problem is that the police get pushed towards concentrating on specific 'offences'. They should just get out there and capture crap driving, cutting the lights, pulling in at traffic works, tailgating, too slow in outside lane, fog lights,no indicators,no lights in the fog(aaaarrrggghhhh).
