Drink driving what can you do

I gather 999 is being replaced by 112. The reason for this is, I think, is to standardise the world with the same number. I think telephone books mention this in the front somewhere. I suspect though that 999 will work for some time until everyone knows about the change, which they obviously don't at the moment.

Hi All
Coming home from pompey tonight was behind a porche 924 or 944(sorry unless its a 911 i pay no attention to them) and to say his/her driving style was irratic would be an understatment, he/she almost crashed about 4 times was at one point less than 1 foot away from car in front. Anyway too my point, is there anyway other than 999 (as they probably got more important things to do) that i could do if situation arises again.
Thanks
Simon

A friend of mine was in a similar situation not that long ago - was behind a driver who was obviously drunk.
He called the police on his mobile who asked for him to stay on the phone & follow the guy until they got to him (which they did within 20 mins)
Case went to court & my mate was called as a witness.
Things like this have to be dealt with at the time - imagine how you would feel if on the news that night there was a report of this drunk driver mowing down a pedestrian.....

Simon,
You ring 112 (999 won't work for much longer) and tell the Police exactly what you suspect. They will probably ask you to follow the car for a little bit to give them time to get a vehicle there.
The Police are NEVER to busy to sort things like that out.

To 'bring us into line with Europe' they've decided to phase out 999 and replace it with 112 (because apparently 112 is easier to remember than 999?!?).
Things like mobile phones already do not accept 999 if you try to dial when the keypad is locked. I can't remember the exact date it is supposed to change but 2002 springs to mind.
I'm glad to see the Governments 'extensive publicity campaign' is working!

Had a situation with one of our couriers who was knocked over by a coach (small injury & bit of damage). Coach driver refused to give details or stay & drove off (complete with foreign tourists!). Courier called the office on the radio & we called police. Courier followed coach, giving details (Kennington Lane, major S. London Road, in rush hour - hardly hot persuit!) & within 5 mins 2 traffic cars had pulled the coach. What service Not always that good tho' - have reported GBH/Assault in progress & been told to turn up to the local station

It's nice to see that not all of our defenders in blue are like Chief Wiggum or his Springfield Police Dept.
Puff the Magic Wagon - What did the police expect you to do about the GBH in progress? Just walk away and go to a local police station?
That's just not right. Someone could have been severely hurt (or even killed) - or was it a minor incident that you were reporting?

We are in radio contact with all our couriers & it would be one when a courier called up & reported that some member of the public was attacking him (road rage...). We normally try & send a few bikers round When we get the call, we are not sure how serious it is or may be. The last time was when member of public knocked over bike & thumped biker, who thumped him back & then member of public stood & waited for the police (City of London) to turn up & in fact asked our courier to call them! At the time, there were bomb scares on all the bridges & I dare say they were quite busy... We sent a couple of our blokes around & member of the public left...
