Question

I'm considering getting a Breadmaker as a chrimbo present for my mum. Not entirely personal and imaginative but I refuse to buy her another ceramic piece of pap that's only good for one thing, gathering dust!!

Has anyone tried these things? The idea of them is quite good, chuck everything in and after a bit you get a nice fresh loaf of bread BUT are they any good??

All advice appreciated.

Karl

We've got a Panasonic one.

Certainly very nice bread that it knocks out About five to tens minutes to weigh out the ingredients. Come back a couple of hours later and all is ready.

Yep, they certainly do the job. Throw everything in the pan, chose the option and X amount of time later, lovely bready aromas and fresh warm bread!

Sister-in-law bought us a ........ shiny, chrome one and it is the dogs. Set the timer and hey presto, warm, fresh bread for breakfast.

Only tried bog-standard white loaves so far but it does all sorts (apparantly).

Cheers

I got one for my mum for her birthday, in May....

.. my folks have not bought a loaf of bread since!!!

The thing nearly runs 24/7, they make normal bread, brown bread, fancy cheese \ herb \ tomato breads.....

It does make nice bread I will admit, and it was a cheap tesco one, £30 I think.

I ahve one and they are good, although the downside is the hole in the middle of the base of the bread left by the paddle.

However that is a minor inconvience

Dave's just bought me one for Christmas. Not very romantic, but it's what I wanted.

He'll never get me that ring!

We've (well my wife of course) has just worn out our first one and its been replaced with the latest panasonic model. I can highly recommend getting a bradmaker and especially this model. I believe in comparison tests it is the industry gold standard. It is certainly not the cheapest machine (£120), but my wife (actually we) reckons it is worth it.

lardy,

We've got a Morphy Richards one and it's lovely

Recipies that come with it are fine.....and it (shock horror) makes nice bread

Only pain is that you need to wash it afterwards where it is much easier to throw a bag away Have found that it doesn't go mouldy as quick though
