They "gave up" not called off the strike .... ****** the lot of them .No stamina or public support. Thank god they are not the Army.

Now we ALL know they do a part time job for BIG money!!

Exactly, Matt. I suspect that this'll just mean the next strike starts a week on Wednesday instead. So don't get all smug, Mr. Lewis.

I doubt it very much - our brave firemen have had the fear of god put up them by this GREAT government

Hooooray for democracy - £21k IS fair, you WILL modernise or you WILL NOT get more than 4%!!

They have gone to ACAS to try and find a way out WITHOUT losing face - if I was in charge (maybe its a good job I'm not!!

) BUT I would make it a condition of any deal that they sign a No-Strike contract. They are on the run and the public should make the most of the advantage and get a decent return for an excessive £21000 a year for a part-time job

However, I hope they have a good xmas - really I do!!
