Another bloody speed camera!!!!
Harlestone Road near the Shell garage.
I have never heard of any accidents there and it's a 40 mph limit. Now, this makes me - WHY?
OK, I drive 4 miles to work, and in that 15-20 minute journey, I now will encounter 2 speed cameras, one in a 30 mph limit and this new one. As you may or may not know, I don't speed so have nothing to fear, but what makes me is the blatency of the council/police to make money! I wouldn't mind, but these cameras are in positions where it is almost impossible to speed due to the high volumes of traffic at most times of the day. Are they trying to stop us using our cars with this stealth tactic?
It just makes me I would be interested to hear the statistics on this new site and how they can manipulate them to fit their agenda.
Makes me so
Sorry for ranting.

The police are not making any money. All monies collected from speeding fines go to the Lord Chancellor's Office as before. However, a pre-agreed sum (i.e. the cost of the project infrastructure) is now paid back to the agencies involved. This enables Northamptonshire to focus and dedicate resources into road safety issues to make this county a safer place.

The way things are going, everyones gonna have to own GPS camera locators. It's just getting stupid. They are everywhere its safe, just because people might be able to safely go over the speed limit. And i know, let's lower the speed limit so the money rasied is more substantial!!!

Well, I don't know if it's working yet - I would expect not seeing as they haven't painted the white lines yet.
What pisses me off is like tonight when people went passed it at 40 mph were slowing down. This creates a chain reaction of a load of cars slowing down!
I am waiting for them to reduce the speed limit to 30 mph

Can I suggest that all those who are fed up with speed cameras etc join the Association of British Drivers. They can be found at www.abd.org.uk. Its cheap to join, an the more members they have the more power to their elbow.

I am a member of the ABD!! I believe the speed limit should be increased on motorways and the stopping distances changed.
And Yes, it is forward facing. We don't have any rear facing ones in Northampton do we? Flash, which way do you drive and what car do you drive?

No, when its rotated it is looking at the other side of the road taking forward facing pics of them.
Did you know - Say you're going down rushmere road at 5am and its EMPTY, cam is facing UP the road i.e. it'll get you if you go down past it at 40mph. If you were to drive down past it on the wrong side of the road then cam cannot get you, theres no piezzo (sp?) electric strips to activate the cam until after you have passed it cause you're on the wrong side of the road for the way the cam is facing
Same tactic would work for all other Truvelo cams (but not GATSOs as they use radar!!) although i cannot possibly reccomend anyone does this obviously
