I'm heading over to Calais on the shuttle on Tuesday for a pre chrimbo beer run. Went over last year and got some bits and pieces from the big superstore in EuroCite (or something like that)

Are there any other alchohol only places that are cheaper/better around the area?

Eastenders is a $hithole. Broken bottles everywhere. Re-labeled wine bottles. 3% alc beer in 5% labeled bottles.

Avoid Eurocite. Set up for Brits.So expensive.

Go to where the French go. They should know as they live there.Best place is auchan in Bolougne. Not the one one in Calais though.
Only 20 mins from Calais. Been over about 35 times and tried most places.
Bolougne also good for lunchtime grub on seafront. Even got Michelin starred restaraunt if your into food.Got the
best cheese shop in France as well.

I agree with Chip on that one. I think your talking about citieurope in calais, but Bolougne is a better day. However I came back from France 2 weeks ago and went to both Auchan and Citieurope and found little difference in the prices.

Last time i went i got enough 'bacca to pay for the whole trip.Now the limits are higher...

Just got back from trip on Saturday, visited the following
CityEurope (sp)
Auchan Calias
Sainsbury's Calais
Auchan Bolougne
Cheepest is Sainsbury's followed by Auchan Bolougne, the Auchan Calais, last is CityEurope (which has links with Eurotunnel) they hike the prices this time of year,
Be warned it's getting really busy now !

I agree with the Eastenders suggestion, yeh ok its a bit skanky but its the cheapest of the lot, takes uk cash if you like and they are open all hours (the only place open when we came back from Le Mans Sunday night) walked away with dirt cheap stella, hoegarden, becks etc
