Been offered this, and am tempted. However, I don't know if it's a bargain or not (I suspect it is).
Fender USA Strat Plus - 3-tone sunburst body, Rosewood neck, Lace Sensor (Gold) Pickups, Fitted hardshell case. Excellent condition. Great sound and great to play! £450.
I've seen it and it's in excellent condition.
Or do I spend my cash on the Scooby.

Might you be interested in this?
Rare opportunity to own an original HS Anderson.
This is a solid maple guitar with a glued neck in natural wood finish.
Two twin DiMarzio pickups,
Tortoise shell neck inlays.
Active electrics (Not connected) Serial number 216791.
Two small marks on lower body.
This is a trully great guitar, looks, feels, plays and sounds absolutley fantastic.
Owned by me for the last 10 years. Never gigged with.
These guitars do not come on the market very often.
Genuine reason for a very, very reluctant sale.
Quality like this does not come very often and this guitar's performance reflects it's pedigree.
No time wasters or wannabes need apply.
Here is a library picture of one. The one for sale is a much lighter colour.
If I had a choice I would not be selling this cherished guitar. I AM GUTTED.

I paid £400 for a 1994 USA strat' (for my boy) without hard case. One fret needs sorting and a couple of marks on body. Sounds great and I asked around before buying. I would have paid £450. So I don't think it's a bargain but a fair price - even more if you can knock it down to say £400.
Jason - I guess you don't want to post asking price for the Anderson?

David, Yeah no problem. I am asking £700 for it. I have been in contact with a guy in Taiwan (This is how rare they are) and he recently paid $2250 for his so as you can see this is an absolute bargain.

I have both a tele & a strat, i think the tele is a better guitar. But...
The strat is a very limited Californian series (now discontinued) they were originally too expensive & didn't sell, then the price came down & they sold out
My advice would be to buy a mexican or jap re-issue model, both of which are available for 300 quid or less.
The main difference between the Standard USA model & the Mex is the paint that's used they mex paints are illegal in the US. I think there may be slight differences in the pick ups though, i'm not sure
I definitely wouldn't bother with a US model when there is just as good at half the price

Crypt...That will be worth some serious wedge.
If he hasn't got it insured tell him to. It will be in the £1000,s.
There was a guy where I used to live who collected very rare guitars and he had a 1954 les Paul worth £40,000.

When i sold guitars basses 10 years ago, we had a '57 strat' for sale a £4000. It was in good nick, been well used but any visable wear and tear just added to the carcater. Oh, and it played like a pig! Worse guitar i'd played for a while! Simply horrid!
With Jap strats there are definatley good un's and bad un's. If i remember correctly, it is because they were using the worn out USA tooling which was way past it's best. On a Jap Strat' check the fit of the neck joint. It should be a good tight fit, but i've seen them with 2mm gaps around there and that is pretty poor!
P.s. I'm not a strat cat, so would recommend most things in prefference!

Gibson....mmmmmm...... always fancied one in sunburst. Don't think I can play well enough to justify getting one though.
