Was it just me or was that a very poorly researched and shoddily made program?

Example 1: talking about the Sierra while showing us a Granada in a wind tunnel

Example 2: Describing the launch of the original Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac while showing us the launch of the Mk2 models

Example 3: No mention of the Escort despite being one of the best selling cars of all time.

Very half-arsed, IMHO

Also, it may not be relevant but the car doing the burnout on the council estate was a MG Maestro , not an XR3I

The Maestro was quicker and handled better, but fell apart slightly quicker...

Cool

The Capri leapt from mkI to mkIII, Maestro as mentioned, the XR3 upside down on fire was a Nova, the fecking cheek of that!

On the whole I enjoyed the show, it would of been cool to see some mkII Escorts though I was surprised to hear the bad things about the Sierra, up untill now every interview I've seen about it has it said it was way ahead of it's time, changed the face of motoring etc

I had to laugh at the Trannies rallying, Johnny Walkers sales pitch and Jackie Stewart on racing Cortinas

What about the mini that rolled, ****

Unhappy

I agree, a waste of time watching that programme. The granada in the wind tunnel really set me off when talking about Sierras. And where was the RS range? Another thing, the big jump from early 80's to the present day cars, they completley missed nearly 20 years of cars. No mention of any special editions ie gt40 rs200, no cosworths (apart from a small clip on a rally stage).

Seemed to dwell on death traps of 40+ years ago and over the hill Del boys in capris

Bob,

I remember when the Sierra was lanched. Everyone was like "What the...?".

My Grandad used to be a field engineer and had a new car every year. He always had Cortinas and then when they launched the Sierra, he got a Cavalier instead (I was disappointed because I wanted to see a Sierra in the flesh ). He said he switched to Vauxhall to "give Ford the chance to learn from their mistakes" LOL

There was a guy that interviewed saying he saw his first XR3i in 1980 - I thought the XR3i didn't come out until 1983 on a Y reg? I know it was proceeded by the non-injected XR3 but I thought they didn't come out until 1981 (W reg).

I did have them both when I reached the ripe old age of 17! The XR3 was traded in for the XR3i after about four months and that lasted a month before it caught fire outside my house and got written off.

'W' was 80/81, so feasible that there could be '80 on a W cars around - esp press cars
