finance question.......is this a dividend certificate...
#1
Last week a friend of mine received this certificate with a cheque for £24 attatched to the bottom.
To me it looks like a dividend certificate, but to the best of his knowledge he has no shares.Seven months ago he also recieved a cheque for around £250 from the same place.
How can we find out anything about this. All he knows is someone keeps sending him money...apart from that he hasnt a clue what it is...
Thanks....Paul..

Did your mate cash the cheques? Did they clear?
The Registrars contact details are on the dividend counterfoil so your mate can contact them with any queries he may have. He should have a shareholder statement or certificate if shares held a long time but it does seem as if he owns 87 shares.
It would be pointless to speculate here as to how he got them but if he is certain he doesn't own them, then he should advise the Registrars accordingly and previous cheques, if cashed should be repaid.
Cheers

yep, its a foreign income dividend certificate. As above, contact the registrars shown, they should also be able to tell him when he acquired the shares, may jog his memory or not.
