Barnaby:
Out the window it goes then. Or accidentally fall out of the car and run over. No way of knowing its been in the bath
Terzo:
Seriously though, if it was pure water, and is allowed to dry out ok, the likely hood is it will work ok. Problems occur when things (such as lager) dry onto the circuits.

Obviously it won't turn on. I was wondering whether once it dries out, what the likelihood of it turning on again is ?
Its an 8850 and not insured. Any advice greatly recieved

I dropped a mobile phone in a pint (don't ask!) once and it never recovered.
One thing to bear in mind is that most mobile phone insurance policies are not valid if liquids are involved. When I mentioned what had happened they straight away said 'not covered'. If I had dropped it out the window then it would have been replaced!

I did the exatly the same a few months ago with my 8850 LOL must be a design fault with the 8850 that they keep falling in baths,
I took the battery cover off took out the battery and blasted it with my girlfrinds hairdryer for a bit and then left it over night. in the morning hey presto it worked, the phone had a blob on the screen for a few days then went away.
Ive still got the phone and it works fine

One of my kids' watches once went into the bath. It wasn't a dear one, and was totally full of water.
We took the back off, and laid it on paper towels on top of the boiler for the night,(OUTSIDE casing!!!) The next day it worked perfectly, and did so until some ****** stole it at his school!

Andy, I know to do that now! But at the time I thought I could claim for it and blabbed out the truth
Funniest moment was waking up with a stinking hangover and wondering why the phone made funny noises when I tried to use it

I put mine in the washing machine once by accident (laugh away). Took a day to dry out in the airing cupboard but was fine (Nokia 8210). Got it swapped out with Orange who had no problem with the fact it was my stupid fault.

Mine fell in a river (long story) and after a few days began working again apart from the odd character on the display. I now keep my Phone Book on the SIM card.

If it doesn't work after drying then 'drop' it hard on the floor outside. If the phone is looked at then just say it fell on the road when getting out of the car into a 'puddle'
Why on earth is the insurance not covering liquids though??? As they will cover it falling onto the ground (i.e. both accidental).

My Samsung T100 got 'drowned' at the football yesterday . Hope I've got insurace . Wouldn't turn on for ages, now turns on but won't charge, or trans/receive calls/SMS
Trying the old 'night on the boiler' trick so will see if it works tomorrow. Oh, and the polyphonic ringtones went really quite for a while.
Good job really as I must've dropped it on Friday night whilst not sober as it is scuffed all down one side so I need a new one anyway!

I guess the reason some insurance companies won't cover liquid damage is because the majority of claims they get are as a result of this type of damage. In fact the most common phone accident is dropping it down the toilet, when it jumps out of your top pocket (girls probably don't have this problem?). Second most coomon involves beer, and third is down to our four-legged friends.
Suggestion - when making an insurance claim for mobile phone damage, don't mention loos, water, beer or animals!! Not that I'm suggesting that anyone should make a fraudulent claim of course

Hopefully you didn't have bath salts or bubble bath or something in it? If it's plain water, follow the advice already given - let it try totally and it should be fine. If it has other stuff in the water you may need to clean the boards - or give it a dunk in clean water and hope you can wash the salts/soap out.

As long as you dont try and turn it on when it is wet, this can mess up the circuitry...
Dry thoroughly.. then try and switch on.... not the other way round

Rob, I wish you'd said that 24 hrs ago
It switches on now, but won't pick up a single and won't hold any charge
This is about 48 hrs after - is it doomed forever ?
Thanks for the replies everyone
