Driving back from a bonfire party tonight, Northbound on the A446 just past the Belfy (for those that know the area), the view in my rear-view mirror caught my attention.
Despite driving away from them (and with no other traffic) the cats-eyes behind were glowing brightly. At first i thought that maybe my reversing light was jammed on or something, but this was not the case.
For several hundred yards (to just past the Moxull Hall turnoff), the cats-eyes in the centre of the road were self illuminating. They were more than just luminous, they were very bright!!
Anyone know more about this clever idea??

Yeah, very cool idea, they have small solar cells on the top to get the power from..
Another cool idea is the chevrons painted on the M6 between Manchester and Birmingham, designed to help you judge the distance, v. clever..

Yeah, the cateyes are quite good. They're fitted on the A46 north of bath up to the M4. Caught me out at first as I could see the cateyes illuminated in my rear view mirror....wierd.
My wife didn't believe me about them so I turned off my lights. That shut her up

They have them on the A449 outside Kidderminster. Some theiving b'tards kept nicking them at first though!!
Also the police kept lurking around because no-one could resist switching their lights off. Does look really cool with the lights off though, not that i'd know

What a supprise, some1 from Manchester trying to nick Cats Eyes, is there nothing a Manchester person won't try and steal.....
But the C E's do look very good, a huge improvement over normal ones.

I must admit that i (er, have a friend who ) turned my (er his) lights off momentarily to check, and the cats-eyes are well and truely visible.
Bearing in mind that in winter (when the roads are at their darkest) there is only around 8 hours of daylight (never-mind sun-light) a day - so just how do they glow so brightly if they are solar powered??
Oh, and where can you buy them? They will be next years "must have" garden accessory, i am sure
