Red face

Thought I'd post this as food for thought.

My Canadian gf's Dad (who's in Canada still) has insured his modified Q45, Jaguar XJ6 and Oldsmobile 3 box job, fully comp, any driver for £200 on one policy. He also has 2 recent at fault claims (one write off & one badly damaged).

Off, rip and Britain come to mind...

If you have more than full (is that 5?) years no claims, can u split it across 2 policies? Or does one car HAVE to have 0years no claims??

Bell Direct will match no claims on your 2nd policy (as long as the 1st is with them)

Technically you have to build up a NCB on each car, so even if you have 7 years on one car that doesn't entitle you to anything on the second.

Some insurance companies will, however, take your other NCB into account when you're insuring a second car, and will give a discount. However, this varies between companies, and at the end of the year you'll still only have 1 year's NCB on your second car that you can use if you switch insurers.

Agree with AndyC. All my no-claims is on my tintop, but when I insured my Caterham, they gave me a discount because I have max-NCD on the everyday car.

If you drive a 'performance car' as your everyday car, some insurers take that into account, in addition to any NCD you have already.

I blame Claims Direct and the like! Strange how insurance took a hike when those companies started appearing.

I'm gonna end up with no money spare per month if I have to insure the car in my name. Was hoping to get it in my mom's name as she has 9yrs no claims. I have 1yr, as I was on my dad's policy for the previous few years, to make it cheaper while i was a student tosser

Wish we could insure all the families cars (nothing like a Jag etc) for £200, think of all the money for mods

Yeah, in the US people can insure all their vehicles and their house with one company and get huge discounts.

Are you listening UK Insurance companies?

I think the amount of car crime in Canada is slightly less though - on account of the fact that there is about 200 miles, on average, between each person.

Wink

Mark,

You're right, but that is more than made up for by all those polar bears sleeping on your bonnet looking for a bit of warmth. And imagine the claw marks when you use a super soaker to get it off!
