Well done to Kim Howell, the culture minister, for proffering the following opinion on the 2002 Turner Prize Entries:
Never a truer word spoken!
"It's cold, mechanical conceptual bull**** ... The attempts at contextualisation are particularly pathetic but symptomatic of a lack of conviction."

Most modern art is I am afraid an exercise in clever-cloggery by talentless, pretentious louts who are in themselves derivative of others.
They have access to materials, time and space, and that is what sets them apart from you and me, not talent.
Damien Hurst? - seeen it all before in the anatomy museum at Guy's hospital.
Tracy Emin? - seen it all before 20 minutes ago when I got out of bed.
That big thing in the Tate modern? The huge reservoir dam I saw on Exmoor last week with millions of tons of water held in silent power was more artistic and impressive in scale and it even has a use.

the bbc did a good series called Living with the Enemy not to long ago and one episode featured the following :-
two stick in the mud "traditional" artists had to to live with two young "hip" modern conceptual artists at first i thought the two traditional artist were too reactionary but at the least they were polite and made a genuine attempt to understand the new artists.
After half an hour i wanted too physically strangle the two arrogant little gits (a man and a woman)who called themselves conceptual artists they were unbelievably foul mouthed and rude to the two trad artists
They had all the tact intelligence and reasoning of harry enfields Kevin the teenager
At one point the two trad artists were shown a sculpture of two neolithic figures based on the two modern artists and you could see a glimmer of hope in their eyes, here they were being shown something crafted skilfull and quite life like.
That was until they found the arrogant little ******* had just posed for somone else who had produced the sculptures and were passing it of as their own work.
thats the point when i jumped ship and began rooting for traditional artists.
Matt
edited to say and dont forget 9 times out of 10 these arrogant ****s are being paid large grants from guess who's pocket
yes thats right you and me
