was looking at radar detectors the other night, as i've got the chance of having one brought back from the states soon and found this interesting object:
http://www.uniden.com/product.cfm?product=GPSRD
all for 125 quid apparently remembers where it was set off due to the GPS, you tell it if it was a threat and it will alert you next time you pass it, or if it was just Tesco's doors it won't go off next time
now the PDF manual says the GPS only works in the USA and Canada which i can't believe, GPS is GPS where ever you are isn't it? anyone know anything about this, i realise the bands aren't the same as in this country but for this price it's worth it for Gatso's etc.

I've not heard of that particular unit, but like you said GPS is global and should work around the world. I got my self a Valentine One the last time I was in the States for £270. Not a bad saving on the £560 they are sold for over here.

tempting, don't like the idea of buying and finding that they've locked it to US GPS satellites only or something equally as daft

it does have preset GPS positions for the US, but it also has space for 5000 added locations

Hux, no you can't add them until its detected it then you add it to the onboard database then next time you get anywhere near it you get a warning, same way with false alerts

So you need to find every Gatso yourself and register it? What about Truvelo, or SPECS or hidey-holes (that won't be picked up by the radar detector)?
Naaah, if you want a GPS based system - go for one that comes with automatic (UK) updates!!!

it's mearly a radar detector that remembers where you've been, all depends on how good it is, might end up just remembering we're you got all your tickets
