The weekend storms did something very strange to the electricity supply in my area (North Hants)
Got back Sun evening from being away, and the lights would only come on very dim
Only normal filament bulbs would work, but as I say very dim.
Other eletical appliances eg tv, fridge, freezer(!), fluresent lights weren't working
Neigbour said it had been that way all day
Measured the voltage and it was 80V AC !
Kettle would boil if you left it for 30 minutes
Normally when the power has problems in our area its all or nothing.
Never seen anything like a reduced voltage supply
Anyone experince the same thing or can comment on the strange reduced voltage effect ?
Stephen
Luckily, one of our small multistandard TV's worked ok on the low voltage, and so I was able to see Top Gear !
(otherwise I would have been well pissed off)

you were lucky
we had "no" voltage mains for 8 hours yesterday. a guy i work still has no power today.
i guess they lost a lot of cables so maybe they reduced power to certain areas while they sorted it out
