Great question! Ford Cortina IV estate, 1.6 (I think - Dad put my brother's old Capri 2.0GT engine in for a bit, but took it out later).
Car subsequently cut up with angle grinder, steering went into Pilgrim Sumo replica as did most of a Granada

1985 and my first car was a Fiat 500, the one before the 126, it had an air cooled 500cc twin in the back, great fun, and I passed first time with no lessons.
Ron,
Note to self, 'buy another Fiat 500'

Another BSM metro in 1990. Remember as if it were yesterday when my instructor got me doing 90 in it on a dual carriageway out of Eastbourne, totally cracked me up, the thing was screaming. He must have wanted a new car Passed first time tho so he taught me well

Triumph 2000 - my dad's company car - well, he was a Bank Manager and it was a long time ago
Trouble was that techniques like hill starting by raising the clutch until the engine note changed were impossible, 'cos you couldn't hear the engine
