I would dearly like to speak to someone who has read or is part way through this book.
I have tried to follow through some off his programing to help with the understanding with his theory of cellular automata.
Unfortunatley I have tried to follow his principles of programing using "C" but not in conjunction with Mathematica and I can't get it to work.
Also can someone explain how he derived at the 300 or so rule based on cellular automata. And how the hell do you apply Mobile Automata rules that run to 65,536.

Many Thanks

Grant

Grant,

Only started reading it last night, give me a chance

Seems an interesting read, but I still can't help thinking the guy *is* from a different planet at times.

Once I get to the bit you are talking about I'll see if I can remember to post.

Cheers

Ian

Ian,
He is a very strange guy.If you have read the back first and seen at what at he came up with most of his ideas you will be even more amazed.
Try downloading the mathreader from his web site, then you can download some of his programing routines.
It is not the sort of book I have been able to read with any type of backround noise as it does take quite alot of concentration. So far I have only got to page 95 and that has taken me nearly 2 weeks on and off.And that was with a benifit of a hospital stay for 2 days with time to kill.
As you flick through his book the way he tries apply his theorem's to life around us are trully out there.

Let me know how you get on.

Grant
