Cool

There's a menu option which allows you to return it to the factory settings. However, you need a PIN2 code IIRC, so unless you've got that you probably just want to manually delete the addressbook entries and leave it at that.

Question

Nope, not that I know of.

If the phone doesn't work, though, what do you care?

Think this is illegal, but you go to any large boot sale or Sunday market you will find someone to do it for you!!

As long as the phone is out of contract you can do whatever you like with it. There is a bill trying to be pushed through parliment to make it illegal to mess with the phones even when out of contract but I can't see how this can work as you own the phone after 12 months.

You can reset the phone with a data cable and some software and it should work again, unless it is actually physically broken.

The bill you're on about is changing the identity of the phone - ie) messing with the IMEI.

Doing what you explain above is fine, as long as the provider have said its ok for you to do what you want with it.

If its part of an insurance claim, then it generally becomes the property of the insurance company...... officially speaking, anyway.
