I once saw what was at the time a UFO. It started as a bright orange light which seemed to be hovering. It then got brighter and turned an almost blue/white and shot across the horizon. There was a story about the sighting in all the local papers. I was in the RAF at the time so I was able to find out the perfectly reasonable explaination. It was the accidental re-entry of a Russian sattelite, the cosmos 1066L launch number 123B.
There's likely to be an explaination for most sightings.

BB i can't believe it took u so long to find this thread
After what i saw m8 I had the 12 cans of stella and jamaican woodbine when I got home!
There is no explanation for what we saw as simple as that. I am not saying they were aliens, but they were ufo's because i coundn't identify them and they were flying objects

A news report over the weekend on my local station brought back memories of an incident that myself and my ex-wife witnessed about 5 years ago.
The news report was about a photograph taken around Tonbridge in Kent and is possibly the most significant photograph of recent times and is being talked about by those in the know world wide. It has been scrutinised massively and no signs of a hoax can be found in the photograph and shows what looks to be like a classic shaped flying saucer type craft.
Now the reason this brought back memories is that 5 years ago my first son was born. When he wouldn't go off to sleep at night we used to put him in the car and take him for a drive as it would send him off to sleep. One night while driving down the A21 between Tonbridge and Sevenoaks I spotted several bright lights in the sky and pointed them out to the wife. I slowed right down as there wasn't much other traffic about and watched these lights. What we both saw neither of us can explain but have never mentioned to anyone as anybody would just laugh.
Basically the lights were moving in an eratic way and were positioned a long way apart. However they moved extremely quickly, like almost instantly and would suddenly flash across the sky and stop immediately and hold position, then dart off again. There was IIRC 5 or 6 of these lights. The distance they would cover in a split second could not possibly be achieved by a helicopter or any sort of conventional aircraft. They were also not spot lights from a show etc, there was no beam going up into the sky and they were like aircraft lights that flash on wings etc, not spot lights.
We were somewhat spooked by what we saw. We never told anyone because it would just be laughed at and all the jokes would start flying about. To this day we still can't explain what we saw, but having seen the photo and having heard the news reports its just a bit spooky that other people have reported similar things and now someone has a photo, whether its made up or not who knows! I even mentioned to the ex wife last night when I took my son home and she had heard about it too and was thinking the same as me.
I believe there has to be other life out there somewhere but have never believed in UFO's but having seen what we saw, its unexplainable and that to me is a bit weird.
Has anyone else had similar sightings/experiences?
<waiting for all the jokes and funny stories>

not seen one myself, but I once worked with a guy who used to be an RAF navigator, on Canberra bombers, back in the late 50s. Him and his pilot both saw a 'classic' silver disc flying alongside them once while on a training flight. They were flying close to the Canberra's max altitude at the time (can't remember what it was) - but there was very little else that could go that high at the time. This thing just disappeared up into space.
He is adamant that a) he saw it and b) that it could not possibly have been anything made on this planet....in his opinion....

Bravo2Zero,
What you saw was the light from Venus reflecting off a pocket of marsh gas that in turn reflected off a weather balloon. Please look into this light right here.....

I thought I saw a ufo when I was out walking the dog. It was utterly silent, moved really quickly and was covered in weird lights. It was only when we chased it that I realised it was just a low flying plane. Was well disappointed.

I know this sound weird, but it's no joke. I have reason to believe that 24 years ago my mother had "an encounter" with what I believe to be an extra terrestrial. My dad! I seem to appear human for the most part, but I have discovered that I posses unique abilities. One of with seems to prevent me from dieing, or receiving permanent injury. I never knew my father, but from what my mother has told me he infact was an alien. She has been reluctant to tell me the whole story, but what she has told me is that my father along with a small group of other aliens has been living here on Earth for some time. She has told me that he cares about me, but he said it is better that we never see him again. I don't know much about my fathers origin, and I don't think my mother knows either, but she has told me that my father had the ability to shape shift. That he could mimic the appearance of any animal he saw. As far as I know I lack that ability. What I do know is that I can breath under water. If I get cut, the wound will heal almost instantly. I am afraid to speak out publicly. I know people will never let me alone if I did. I just felt the need to get this off my chest.
