What is it with police and social workers? Have they made some kind of pact or something? They don't seem to think that ANYONE should go to prison
Mobile phone muggers *should* get custodial sentances for mobile phone theft with violence
Make an example of them

As far as I'm concerned, lock everyone up except me, my family and friends, I guarantee there will be zero crime then. Apart from the odd traffic offence.
We do need stricter and more consistent sentencing. You hear about middle aged couples going to jail for lopping down a hedge, while young ******* get let off with 2 minutes community service for breaking and entering. The law is an ***.

Hard one this. Any crime with violence should be punished by prison. I feel that the guy who accidently killed his friend was given a very severe sentence, especially when you think it's the same sentence given to the mugger.
Drug rehabilitation should be part of any punishment when the perp is tested positive. When will people realise that is the cause of the crime. That woman would not be offending if she wasn't on drugs.
I'm just glad I was brought up well and would never commit anything more serious than going a few miles an hour over the limit. Of course, in Northampton, we are SCUM!

Social workers........well, having personal experience with social services and social workers through my sister......
I can't comment, it makes me mad, sorry but my honest opinion is they are a waste of time, there may be some good ones out there, but godamnit they are fecking few and far between
The programme also tried to make excuses for the bloke who drove a boat pi55ed??? Get ******* real!!!! He shouldn't have been on the boat
The rules for boats and rivers SERIOUSLY need reviewing
I think they had VERY carefully picked those cases to match the public opinion. I am sure there are more contraversial cases to have put on.

The problem with our judicial system is that there is no consistency to the sentencing. One day they would have got 12 month's community service, on another, a much harsher sentence.
I dunno, crimes with violence still should be seriously punished. They are bullies and need teaching a lesson!

It wouldn't be so bad if crims actually did their timeI think if you get sentenced to two years you should serve two years, not six months what's all this good behaviour malarkey, they're criminals ffs
Also, we should fill prisons with people who need to be there, rapists, kiddie fiddlers etc... pulling a wheelie or speeding should not end in a prison term

I don't think those cases were fair at all!!!!!
I am sure there are more cases of contraversial sentencing to be shown, that program as always is fixed!!!!!

"...and the vast majority of callers think that option B (21%) and option C (23%) is preferable to option D (35%)".
WELL OF COURSE if you add up B and C together they will be bigger than D - but that is not the point
Plus Miss Smarty-pants who kept cutting off people mid-sentence, meant that the telly was turned off.
The program was the (over-produced) BBC at it's worst

Miss Smarty-pants who kept cutting off people mid-sentence
Agree, she was *very* irritating and generally low brow
Bob - the picture doesn't look very 'foxy' to me

What a failure that program was.
Completely rigged IMHO, trying to get public confidence back into our crappy judicial system???? Do they think we are stupid???

yeah, perhaps not the best pic in the world, it was short notice though
I thought the chap who was speaking for the ex cons had his head screwed on
On the mid sentence cutting off thing, maybe that's just a BBC thing, Jonny Vaughn does it but a milion times worse
