Moving a snooker table 500 miles
#1
We have been gifted a lovely 1930's half-size snooker / dining table. Trouble is, it's in Portsmouth, we are in Edinburgh.
Any ideas on who could move it? There's no rush so it could go with another load, our only quote so far is £500
Cheers

i would say that is quite reasonable given the mileage.
i was quoted today between 175 and 285 for moving a 2 ton generator from manchester to west brom. try yell.com and find all your local hauliers and tell them the job, and state your'e in no rush. they should get you on a part laod for 300-350ish at a guess.

My guitarist at the time roped me into moving one about 10miles. He hired a van and it took six of us to move this bloody thing - slate bed etc.
£500 sounds like a fair price to me too (just make sure you have plenty of man power either end!).
DP.

Although a bit of a slog, you could hire a small van and do the job in a weekend. That has got to be cheaper than half a grand.
But I guess it depends on the stairs "issue" and maybe also on how much it can be taken apart.
