Spotted a Multi-Region DVD player for £79:50.
It is a BUSH 2023, I know that Bush are at the lower end - but is it a bargain nevertheless??
Also, does Multi-Region mean it will play discs from the US and other areas??

Is £79:50 a good price? should I look for a different one? will the output from this DVD player feed into my Dolby Pro-Logic Amp?

It will work as good as £79.50 will allow. As for sound it will be fine for a pro logic amp as the amp does all the work.
You would be better spending a bit more and getting something like a Toshiba SD120. You can get them from www.hispek.co.uk for £129.88. Spend a bit more and get a better quaility machine!
Go for it

Thanks again Tim, are you talking quality of machine as opposed to quality of picture?
As far as I can see, with digital equipment, the quality of output is identical between the top (Sony?) and bottom (Bush?) - after all a digital signal is either a 1 or 0 ............. there are no variations between.
I agree that some may have better image manipulation, more features, etc.
That raises another question!! What features are worth having - and which are not worth having on a DVD player??

I'm talking both!
The output does differ across the range. That is why you can spend £79.50 or over £400 for a DVD player. The choice is yours, of course, but I alway believe you get what you pay for!
I used to work for Hispek and have had a lot of people coming in moaning about cheaper machines brought from Supermarkets and the like (not that I am dissing them) but they have appreciated the higher quility machines. Also it is important to use the correct cables. Always use shielded cables and the best you can afford! Don't expect to spend less then £20!

Not everyone can see the differance between Hi spec TV's and the likes of Bush et al.
If you take monitors for example, alot of people can't see the flicker at 60hz, I on the other hand can't look at a monitor at 60hz for long untill it makes my eyes go funny. Some don't notice if the screen is just out of focus. Drive's me nuts.
Buy what YOU find confortable / acceptable and can afford.

I recently bought a 'cheap' £100 DVD player from Argos and took it back the next day.The picture was reasonable, but the build quality was crap.
I now have a decent Sony DVD player and am very pleased.Try to avoid the real cheap ones

I think cheap dvd's are a good way of getting into the format and then you can decided what you like/ want and get a better player as time and finances permit... Our cheapy is now in the bedroom and is great for beer, crisp, and spooky movies...

Sony tend not to be multi region. I have a Hitachi 350e does everthing Multi region, RCE, MP3, VCD, Audio. I downloaded the hack of their own web site, wrote to disc, inserted and very happy. We buy from the USA Amazon.com they are cheaper and more on the discs.
