Question

Hi Peeps,

I'm thinking of buying a digital camera and with my available funds have come to the conclusion of either purchasing the Canon PowerShot A40 or the Fuji Fine PIX 2600 Zoom digital camera.

Which is the better one and where is a good cheap site I can buy from?

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

neither,
got a nikon 885,super little camera 3 million pixel job,uk price is £390, downloads all pics in seconds, or try the 775,cheaper at £290 but probably as good, both fit in palm of hand (i wanted the smallest with most pixels without going into £5/600 terratory)

If you want a camera that can be used without being like a girlies toy (ie Small!!) then its only the Minolta S304 that needs to be considered ................. Nikon are the most overated named product I know - I have had Nikon Cameras and IMHO they are nothing to write home about .... unlike Ricoh, who are probably the most underrated named product!!

In this instance though the Minolta S304 beats everything else!!

Cool

Just been looking myself, both look pretty good but the A40 has lots more feature, even though it is getting a bit old.

Me, I blew my £300 budget and got a F/Pix4800 £348 (inc free 32Mb card) from PCWorld of all people!

Ricoh...

My current Ricoh RDC 6100 DigiCam is the worst purchase I have made Delay between pressing button and piccy taking = too long, I've messed up many a shot because of it

Ricoh GR1.. best compact camera ever made. They are making the lens for Leica it was that good.

If you want the best made range of slr's get Canon.Nikon dont come close.
The Minolta 304 is a classic..Look at the lens on it.The Canon G1 is also better than most Nikons for the money.

But very good point about shutter delay..affects most digitals..

Attended the trade day at "Jacobs" 2 weeks ago. The Canon stand ws full of Pro's looking at the stuff and the "Nikon" stand was a bit empty!!

I think it all goes like this:-

Buy a Ricoh, pay a low price, expect average and get excellent - a very happy user

Buy a Nikon, pay a high price, expect excellent and get average - a not very happy user

I would rate Ricoh way above Nikon any day of the week - that said, I bought a Minolta S304 Digicam .................. I am STILL stunned by the quality of the pictures - it blows my Nikon SLR clean out the water, its even as good as my 22year old Ricoh KR10!!

I bought my daughter an Olympus C2 Digicam for her birthday, it is incredible value for £149!!!

Check this website:

Digital Photography Review

Excellent site - most (if not all) digital cameras covered / reviewed - good feature search and side by side comparisons...
