Kinda like the old Esso T-shirt they used to do....remember him running in a race....I know I saw it and liked it. Don't know if it was a series or a one off Children's Film Foundation type thing.
Aaaarrrgh...gonna bug me if I don't find the answer now!
Edited to say - Sammy's Super T-shirt??? Prolly completely wrong!

I rule! I've confirmed what I remembered is correct, just not entirely sure it's what you were after. Sammy's Super T-Shirt was filmed in 1978, and IS a Children's Film Foundation film. I know they did used to get repeated on TV in the mid '80's.
See IMDB.com or
An eighties TV thing (The Friday Film Special, near the bottom) for more detail.

Was a kids program between 1988-1995 ish.
Was about a kid who had a t-shirt with a lions head on it, whenever he put it on he'd get special powers. I think it was on ITV??
I can't remember it very well, seem to remember it being on around the time of woof and raggie dolls.
Cheers.

O my god! You are funkin mint!
Cheers.
That has been bugging me for years! Nobody believes me when I try to describe it.
I can remember him putting it on in a race, but he put it on backwards and couldn't run forwards.
Ok I'm sounding proper sad now

Neil, I prefer to think of it as an invaluable life skill. So nur!
Rik, glad to be of help. The question is, do you remember any of the other Children's Film Foundation films? My fave was the one where they used model aircaft (spitfires or Hurricanes) modified with darts that could be fired to stop some jewel thieves/smugglers. We think it was called Scramble. Fab!
