Quite bimble with the strife in the car - female plod with no real crims to catch stops me at 42mph in a 30 - not even highly critical strife thought I was going that fast - car up my *** for previous 3 miles must have laughed as he scooted off - £60 no worries, it's the points I don't need - have decided to invest in a detector - but which one does the business aginst the blue meenies arsenal of weapons?

What does the panel think?

Beltronics Euro 330 has saved me a few times.
I did my research about 12 months back and it was the best I could find at that time!

Valentine 1 and Snooper laser diffuser, which is pretty good protection for me!

This would stop PC plod with the laser gun, but won't detect specs or truvelo speed traps.

I am affraid if you want comprehensive cover you will need at least 2 units perhaps even 3

I have a 815 Snooper for detecting gatso's, Mobile Gatso's, lasers and Sainsbury's opening doors

I have also bought the new Road Angel for Gatso's ,Truvellos, SPECS and "BLACK SPOTS"

What I need is the Snooper Laser defuser to complete the set

Off course there is a really cheap option

I've got a snooper SD815i which is great at picking up door openers and gatsos alike, absolutely useless if you have a clifford alarm though.
Only just been able to start using it again as it picks up the clifford internal sensor as a radar source!!

Laser traps are not usually in vans these are Mini Gatso's which can be detected better than the Standard Gatso's because the emit more Radar these can't be jammed

Lasers are usually hand held and can be succesfully defended against by the garage opener

I thought there's a leeway between getting points & getting fines. Isn't there a buffer zone where u only get fines but not points? I heard somewhere it's 10% of the limit plus 3 mph or sth?
Cos traffic laws in Hong Kong (which are more or less exactly the same as UK's) allow a buffer of 15km/h, so if u're driving at 125km/h in a 110km/h zone, u're only liable for fines but not points.

No scanner will detect Plod with stopwatch in unmarked, or for the really dopey, marked car behind!

Incidentially what about the helicopters they use these days/

Cool

The detector I have also assists me in finding petrol stations, certain retail parks, stray noises out in the middle of nowhere (I suspect they are sonic sheep ), traffic lights and also warns me of imminent mobile calls (which is useful if my phone is on discreet or silent )

I have a brand new Valentine one for sale in the FOR SALE forum.
I have also included a link to see comparisons of various detectors.

I once used a BEL radar detector that also seemed able to detect objects. Any object within it's range would cause it to emit a beep, sometimes a whistle, or maybe a chirp. I think each different noise was to perhaps warn me whether each object was animal, vegetable or mineral. It never used to pick up GATSO's though
