Leaving car to have work done while away?
#1
I am going a away next week on my hols and my car needs some work doing (clutch is nearly shot) and a few other 'mods' are going to be done. I can leave it with the place thats going to do the work but it means leaving it with them for a week while I'm out of the country...They said it would be secure in a lockup etc but am I alone in absolutely hating leaving my car with absolutely anyone!!?? Last time I left my car at a place to have Cat 1 Alarm fitted they didn't tell me the work would be done "at the workshop down the road"!!! I went ballistic. What sort of comeback do I have if I notice some more miles on the clock etc!!??

just make sure you tell them that your concerned and that you'll check it on your return. Only downside is that they then may just disconnect the speedo , in return for convienience you'll need to give some trust and take a risk. I would check who's insurance(yours/theirs) will be covering your vehicle during the two weeks.

Having worked in the trade I can gaurantee 100% it'll get left till the day before you get back and will be pushed through as a rush job!
I'd leave it and put up with the hassle when you get back.
Best of luck

Looks like decision time then! it is booked in at a place I DO trust but waiting list is so long it's still a month away and I'm not sure the clutch willl hold out much longer...
